HOLLENSTEINER, William Franklin “Bill”, age 93, of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away on February 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and selfless service to his family and friends. Bill was born on March 15, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bernhard Hollensteiner and Mildred (Powell) Hollensteiner and was an only child. Bill grew up in Western Springs, IL, where he graduated from high school. He went on to study at the University of Dubuque where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. From there, he went and studied at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, receiving a degree of Bachelor of Divinity. Bill pastored churches in Illinois and Ohio before leaving the ministry to work as a sales manager for Sears, where he retired.
Everyone knew who William F. Hollensteiner was, but Bill knew WHOSE he was. It didn’t matter if you called him William, Bill, or Willie (as his daughters teasingly did), he was first and foremost a Christian. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and did his best to care for everyone the way Christ cares for all of us. He offered grace to everyone he met with love and kindness, and generosity served alongside. Family was everything to him and everyone was FAMILY! He was a wonderful loving husband to his wife, Sue, and a loving patient father, stepfather and grandfather.
Bill’s quick wit was evident to all who knew him. He loved teasing others and took others’ teasing in good humor. He loved the beach and made many trips throughout the years to Florida and South Carolina where he was content to sit for hours watching the waves roll in and marveling at God’s handiwork.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bernhard & Mildred Hollensteiner; wife, Sue Hollensteiner; son, Jim Hollensteiner; and stepson, Jeff Jerome. Bill is survived by daughters, Debi Haring (Tom), Janice Cordell (Paul), Michelle Hollensteiner and stepdaughter, Debbie Kemper (Mark). He was a loving Grandpa, Bang-Bang (!?) and Papa to his grandchildren, Michael, Kyle, Chad, Jasmine, Stephanie (David), Bradley, Ashley (Mike), Tyler (Alise), Nathan (Beenna), Missy (Matt), and 10 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by many other family and friends.
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
